The Central African Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (CAFELTP) invited AFENET’s Executive Director – Dr Chima Ohuabunwo to participate in the 1st Cameroun International Forum on the Management of Emergencies and Public Heath Events from 19-20 September 2018. At the meeting, the AFENET Executive Director made a presentation about Field Epidemiology support in the Management of Public Health Emergencies in Africa.
During this time, several meetings were held with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Country Director Cameroun - Dr Emily Kainne Dokubo, the out-going DGHP Country Director Cameroun - Dr. Omer Pasi, and on collaboration with AFENET on CAFETP as well as other projects. Meetings were held with the Ministry of Health (MOH), WHO, frontline Resident Advisor, visiting PHEOC Director from Senegal – Dr Boussou, Cross-section of CAFETP Graduates, and Residents.
The Executive Director met The CAFELTP Program Director - Dr. Georges Alain Mballa Etoundi, CAFETP, Regional Administrator, and Francophone AFENET - Mrs Benazea Unice Residents, Alumni and faculty. All meeting aimed to establish AFENET operations in Cameroun and to sustain CDC-AFENET collaboration in CAFETP as well as ACoDD. Dr. Mballa appreciated the ACoDD initiative as a good strategy to bridge the gaps in public health response in Africa.
