The Ghana Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (GFELTP) 1st GFELTP Scientific Conference and 10th Anniversary Celebration were successfully held at the Swiss Sprit, Alisa Hotel, Accra, Ghana. The conference was held from 18 – 21 September 2017 under the theme” A decade of Field Epidemiology Training in Ghana: Scaling up Workforce Development to Improve Public Health “.
The meeting was opened by the Representative of the Minster of Health,
Approximately 124 presentations were made from trainees/fellows and graduates from advanced and frontline level field-based training programs in applied epidemiology, laboratory, and public health practice.
Key topics covered were investigations and projects undertaken and completed during training and within the past two years Priority was however given to abstracts describing outbreak investigations, implementation and evaluation of public health.
The conference was attended and supported by partners: CDC, Ministries of Health & Agricultures, Schools of Public Health & Universities, WHO, and other national health bodies in Ghana.
