Overview

The Kenya Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program is a field-based program offered through the Institute of Tropical Medicine and Infectious Disease of the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and the Kenya Medical Research Institute. The program is co-sponsored by the Kenya Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It is funded by the Ellison Foundation through the CDC Foundation.

Started in 2004, the program currently offers two full-time masters degree courses leading to an MSc in Applied Epidemiology and an MSc in Laboratory Management and Epidemiology.

The program works closely with the MOH to undertake outbreak investigations and training needs assessments, as well as conduct short training courses tailored to the needs of the MOH.
